With the menswear season having just wrapped, and our slight want to wear most of the clothes that walked down the runway, we figured it was high time we dove into the world of male modeling — the elusive, pretty-boy territory that's riddled with envious cheekbones, chiseled jawlines, and a penchant for brooding. Unlike our obsession with knowing the who, what, where, when, and whys about the Kates, Caras, and Naomis of the fashion world, most of us simply look at male models, gush for a second, and then move on. Some see them merely as objects cut by the fashion gods and sent down the runways and splashed throughout the pages of glossies to show off the latest in menswear.
But we believe in equal opportunity here, and wanted to see for ourselves if Derek Zoolander was right in saying, "there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking." And these boys do just that. They're lending more than just their pretty faces to the runways; proving they've got more moves than a Blue Steel pout and runway swag.
Paul Boche
He walked in 10 shows this past season and somehow managed to maintain his journalist job, and music project with Superial-Try Dead.
Arthur Gosse
Gosse walked in 29 shows this past season, and also studies Industrial Design. We've only got one word for this guy: Powerhouse.
Jourdan Copeland
Nicole Farhi, Iceberg, Calvin Klein, and Topman love him. Oh, and he's also an up-and-coming chef.
Marc Sebastian Faiella
Aside from opening and closing shows for Lanvin, walking in Saint Laurent, J.W. Anderson, and Marc Jacobs, Faiella is a Parsons graduate whose talent for womenswear design puts him in a league of his own.
Soo Hyuk Lee
Lee is one face you need to keep an eye out for next season. He's walked for J.W. Anderson, Balenciaga, and opened for Juun J. He's also an actor and pretty muchthe go-to guy for 2NE1's videos.
Ben Allen
Between school and his own photography, this 17 year old is flying to Paris, London, and Milan to walk in shows (19 this past season!). A pretty good start, if you ask us.
Matt Hitt
It only seems appropriate that Hitt would walk in Saint Laurent's Brit pop-inspired show, since he's in a band called The Drowners.
Rutger Schoone
Fun fact: This pretty boy is also a graphic designer. Perhaps he was the one who suggested this impeccable outfit combo?
Alex Minsky
Minsky is the exception to our runway boys, and his story is too incredible to not exclude. He's an ex-Marine turned model after a roadside bomb tore off the bottom half of his right leg. He's received a Purple Heart, and is currently working his way up the modeling ladder doing underwear spreads. We've no doubt we'll see him on the runways soon.
